A commission by Moving On Music for the closing night of Belfast Film Festival 2010.
all told, of the same is a musical-discursive look onto James Joyce’s stream-of-consciousness. Aural, textual and conceptual elements both from the original Finnegans Wake and from Mary-Ellen Bute’s adaptation are mixed, interchanged, cross-referenced and temporally offset to suggest an audiovisual representation of Joyce’s most well-known discursive principle. The music plays unorthodox dialogs with the moving image and with some of Finnegans’ literary allusions, building a dense web of references to intrigue and immerse the listener.
